Overview
A2P 10DLC is the new standard for business text messaging in the United States. A2P stands for Application-to-Person (such as messages sent from a business system). 10DLC refers to standard 10-digit long code phone numbers used in the US.
Carriers now require 10DLC registration for business SMS to combat spam. Without registration, messages are blocked or flagged, severely impacting customer communication.
What information do I need to provide for registration?
You'll need:
Your business's EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Legal business name and address that match your EIN records
A website with the following:
A contact form that includes texting opt-in language
A privacy policy stating you don't share collected phone numbers for marketing purposes
To Register:
Login to BoldTrail
Navigate to My Profile, and select 10DLC Registration from the top
Fill out your business and contact information
Await approval!
What happens after I register?
Once registered, you can continue sending messages as usual, but with improved deliverability and the peace of mind that you're compliant with carrier requirements. After your number is registered and approved, it will be moved to a new messaging service. During the move, you may not be able to send SMS messages for a short time, but call functionality will not be affected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being asked to register?

10DLC numbers were originally intended for personal, one-to-one communication; however, U.S. telecom providers introduced A2P 10DLC regulations to ensure that messages to customers are verified, consensual, and transparent. The A2P 10DLC system also benefits businesses by allowing higher message volumes, improving brand visibility, and increasing accountability.
Because BoldTrail is an application that facilitates business communications, sending from an unregistered number from BoldTrail could result in a risk that your messages will be blocked by mobile carriers.
What happens if I don't register?
Should your form not be completed, your text message capabilities will be temporarily disabled. You will receive the following message if you need to register:
