[BoldTrail] How to Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Improve your BoldTrail account security in a few easy steps!

Updated yesterday

Your data security, deliverability, and peace of mind are some of our top priorities. To help protect your data and ensure your lead and customer communications are seamless, we recommend enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) within your BoldTrail account.

What Is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-Factor Authentication is a multi-step account login process that requires users to enter more information than just a password. For example, along with the password, users might be asked to enter a code sent to their email, answer a secret question, or scan a fingerprint.

This adds an additional layer of security to your usual BoldTrail login process. Instead of simply logging in with your username and password, you'll be required to enter an additional code to verify that it's you logging into the system.

Enabling MFA ensures that even if someone tries to login to your BoldTrail account using your credentials, they still cannot complete the sign-in process without your confirmation.

How to Enable Multi-Factor Authentication

Log into your BoldTrail account on desktop using your username and password. (https://app.boldtrail.com/).

Once logged in, click on your profile photo at the top right, and select My Profile.

Within your profile, find your Settings menu at the far right. Click on the Enable Multi-Factor Authentication button.

Here, you'll be able to complete the steps to enable Multi-Factor Authentication.

Step 1: Download an Authenticator App

An Authenticator App is a secure tool that generates one-time passcodes for Multi-Factor Authentication, adding an extra layer of protection to your account by requiring a unique code in addition to your password. This can be downloaded from your mobile device's app store (such as the Google Play Store for Android or App Store for Apple).

Below are a few direct links to the most popular authenticator apps, depending on your device:

Android

Apple

Step 2: Enable Multi-Factor Authentication

Once you've downloaded one of the apps listed above, open the authenticator app on your mobile device. Using the scanning feature, scan the QR code displayed in the BoldTrail MFA window on your computer. Alternatively, you can enter the code that appears below it.

Step 3: Enter Verification Code

Your authenticator app will generate a one time, 6-digit passcode. Enter the code into the field below, and select Enable Multi-Factor Authentication to finish the setup process.

Most authenticator apps will only display the same code for about 40 seconds. If you did not enter your code within this short timeframe, it should automatically generate a new one.

Step 4: Confirm Multi-Factor Authentication has Been Enabled

To confirm that your Multi-Factor authentication has been enabled, log out of BoldTrail and re-open the main login screen. After entering your username and password, the next screen that appears will require additional verification.

Your authenticator app should have generated a six-digit code. Enter this code into the verification fields and click Verify to finish logging into your account.

In order to use MFA, you will need to be sure you are logging in from the URL app.boldtrail.com and not app.kvcore.com.

Multi-Factor Authentication will only apply to the desktop CRM, and not the BoldTrail mobile app.

How to Disable MFA

Go to My Profile. If Multi-Factor Authentication has been enabled, you will now see an option to Disable Multi-Factor Authentication in the Settings menu on the far right.

After confirming that you'd like to remove MFA, it will no longer be required to log into your account.

Note: Multi-Factor Authentication can be re-added to your account at any time.

Lost or Replaced Mobile Device

If you lose or replace your mobile device, please contact the Support Team (support@insiderealestate.com) in order to disable MFA and gain access to your account. Please ensure that you are emailing Support by leveraging your BoldTrail login email so our team is able to confirm your identity.

Preventative Safeguards

In addition to the security provided by MFA, we’ve introduced additional safeguards to further protect your data, including measures that ensure exports go only to your login email and temporary delays to prevent unauthorized activity during recent updates or periods of inactivity.

Lead export will be temporarily unavailable for 24 hours following a user’s next login. This is a one-time occurrence, and lead export functionality will automatically be restored after the 24-hour period.

The error message below will appear if you attempt to export leads before the 24-hour period has passed:

Frequently Asked Questions

My email is updated via an API ingest (i.e. in my brokerage's system and parses over to BoldTrail), will the export delay affect me?

No - this will only affect manual changes from the BoldTrail platform.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second authentication step (e.g., a code sent to your phone or email) in addition to your password.

How can I activate MFA on my account?

Log into your account.

  • Navigate to My Profile.

  • Click Enable Multi-Factor Authentication.

  • Follow the setup instructions provided.

Is MFA mandatory?

While MFA is highly recommended for securing your account, it is optional. However, enabling it is a best practice for helping to protect your data.

What are the new preventative safeguards?

  1. Email Validation: Exports will only be sent to your login email address.

  2. Export Delay: A 48-hour pause on exports if your login email was recently updated.

  3. Inactivity Protection: A brief 24-hour export delay for accounts inactive for 3+ months upon logging in.

What should I do if I encounter issues with lead exports?

If you experience any issues, please refer to our help articles or contact our support team for assistance. You can access our help desk here.
