There are a few ways to manage passwords in BoldTrail. Passwords are never known or shared with anyone (including our Support Team), therefore you must use the tools in BoldTrail to manage or reset them if necessary.
All users and Admins must log in to BoldTrail from here.
General Password Guidelines
When you are setting up a password for your BoldTrail account, it's important to keep the following in mind for your account's security:
Avoid sharing your password with any users who are not authorized to access your BoldTrail account.
Be sure that your BoldTrail account uses a unique password. We do not recommend logging in with the same password you would use for your personal or social media accounts.
Consider using a password manager (such as Dashlane, LastPass, or Bitwarden) to keep multiple passwords secure.
Forgot Password
If you forgot your password, use the reset tool on the login screen to reset it.
Please Note: If you do not open the link in the reset password email that is sent to you within 30 minutes, you will have to use the Forgot Password function again.
2-Step Verification
The BoldTrail system uses 2-Step Verification (2SV), which is a two-step account login process that requires users to verify their identity using a One-Time Passcode (OTP) sent via email or phone before performing certain critical system actions.
This provides an additional layer of security by ensuring that even if a potential bad actor gains access to your account, they will be unable to perform specific actions within the system without verification. If you have recently changed your password, you will need to complete the 2-step verification process to regain access to your account.
Manually Change A Password
From an Agent Profile, you can click the 'Change Password' button on the top right to manually change the existing password to a new one.
Please Note: Passwords must include at least 8 characters including an upper and lowercase letter and a special character.
Accepted Special Characters:
! @ # $ % ^ & * _ = \ / . < > ? ; :
Send a Welcome Email
If you are an Admin and need to distribute passwords to Agents you've just added to BoldTrail, use the Send Welcome Email option from the Agent Roster.
Please Note: You will not be able to send a welcome email until all onboarding tasks are completed. Click here to learn more.
Select one or more Agents, then click the Send Welcome Email button. As soon as the button is clicked, the email is immediately sent. The email is unable to be customized.
Please Note: Only Admins can send the Welcome Email to Agents who fall within their entity (Team, Office, or Company).
Account Lockout
If you have recently made multiple attempts to log in with an incorrect password, you will be temporarily unable to access your BoldTrail account. This measure is in place to prevent potential bad actors from attempting to guess your password using rapid-fire login attempts.
The CRM stores your identity based on the device you are using to log in, as well as your IP address. When more than 5 invalid login attempts are logged within the system, the lockout timer will function as follows:
5-minute lockout for 5 invalid login attempts from the same email/identity within 5 minutes.
15-minute lockout for 5 unique email attempts from the same identity in 5 minutes.
Please Note: If you have stored your login information within your browser's autofill settings or are using a password manager that automatically logs you into your account, be sure that the information is up to date at all times. This will help to prevent a chain of invalid login attempts from auto-logging you in with the wrong credentials.
If you are having trouble with your password and are approaching the limit for login attempts, we recommend submitting a Forgot Password request to reset and set up a new password.
