What is Website Localization?

"Localization" is the process of adapting content or a product to a specific locale or market.

"Website localization" empowers Agents with the ability to offer an English version to website visitors who live in predominately English-speaking areas and a Canadian French version to website visitors who live in predominately French-speaking areas, like Quebec.

Please Note: kvCORE website localization does not use auto-translation for Canadian French, like Google Translate. kvCORE website localization is a rich, idiomatic translation of all default labels and fields.

Automatic Website Localization

Website localization is location-based, meaning that the website visitor's location is used to determine whether they are in an English-speaking or Canadian French-speaking area and the website will appear in either English or Canadian French for that particular visitor.

If a website visitor wishes to change the default language they see, they can use the black tab on the bottom right of the webpage to do so.

Once the website visitor registers as a New Lead their website language is added to their contact record within your Smart CRM under the 'Profile Details'.

TIP: All automated emails and text messages that kvCORE sends to your leads will be sent in their preferred language. So if a website visitor changes the website from English to Canadian French, their contact record would say "French" and all texts/emails would be sent in Canadian French.

If you would prefer to not allow your website visitors the option to toggle from one language to the other, you can adjust this in your website settings list.

1. Navigate to the Web & IDX tab from the main navigation on the left side.

2. Click 'Edit Settings'.

3. Scroll down to the 'Language Settings' area.

4. Toggle the language selector on or off (If the toggle is off it will be grey and to the left). On means that the language toggle will appear. Off means that the toggle will not appear.

This is also where you can set the default language for your website.

Manual Website Localization

Because the automatic website localization only affects aspects of the kvCORE website template, (the default menu, fields on the listing details page, headers on the main page, etc...) any custom pages, testimonials, or blog posts will not be localized.

If you would like to feature English and Canadian French custom pages, testimonials, or blog posts on your kvCORE website, you must first write them in either English or Canadian French.

Prior to adding them to your website, however, you will need to select the website localization language you would like kvCORE to display them under.

The language you choose determines which version of the localized website that custom page, blog post, or testimonial appears on. If French is chosen then your content will only appear on the Canadian French version of your website.

If English is chosen then your content will only appear on the English version of your website.

If you would like your content to display on both the English and Canadian French versions of your website you will need to create the content twice: once in English and once in Canadian French.
