How to Debug a Facebook Preview Image

Learn how to troubleshoot when listing images are not populating on your Facebook posts.

Updated over 7 months ago

Facebook uses a caching system to try and handle the immense amount of data that is processed by the platform every day. Sometimes, we need to kick the cache to try and grab the latest information (or all of the information) from a link we want to post.

Please Note: The listing images must be populating in kvCORE in order for them to appear on your Facebook post. Sometimes photos can lag behind the MLS.

Using the Facebook Debugger

If you paste a link for a listing into a Facebook post, and there is no property picture, you can attempt the following

2. Paste URL in the box and click the 'Debug' button on the right side. You may have to "fetch new information". Click that button if you are prompted to do so.

3. If the information or photo is lacking, click the 'Scrape Again' button at the top.

After following the above the post should include all of the information and photos.

If you see an image stating 'Photo Coming Soon' then it's likely the listing or listings in your link do not have photos.

Inside Real Estate cannot guarantee that the Facebook Debugger will resolve this issue.

Upload Your Own Image.

Even though it's convenient that Facebook can auto-grab images from Squeeze links, you might find that it's actually better to manually upload an image (or better yet a video) about the list you're trying to post.

To add your own personal image, first, paste in the short link, then click the "x" on the image to remove.

It's a little extra work to do this, but you'll likely find that you get more engagement from your post when you use unique images and videos instead of the automatically generated images.
